Gemotions

The steam from the shower did little to loosen the knots in Sarah’s shoulders. She leaned against the cool tile, letting the water sluice over her. She felt like a tightly wound spring, ready to snap. She had been taking on the world's weight and it was catching up. The scent of lavender soap did little to ease the feeling of pressure inside of her.

A leather-bound journal lay open on her desk. The handwriting, Liam’s, was familiar, comforting. But the words… the words felt like a punch to the gut. The novel was about her, a woman who struggled to find joy, always feeling the drag of responsibility. A woman trapped in a cycle of depletion. A choked sob caught in her throat.
